Peja's street dogs
Meet the dogs
Each dog here has been met in person, photographed, and given a name. Some are ready for adoption, some are in long-term care, and some have already found their people.
Bobi
Bobi has guarded the Patriarchate gates for six years. He is the unofficial welcoming committee, greeting pilgrims and hikers with a slow wag and patient eyes. He sleeps under the linden tree near the monastery wall and survives on café scraps and the kindness of regulars. He would thrive in a calm home with a garden.
Leka
Found wandering near the Lumbardhi river on a misty October morning, Leka is a gentle giant with a penchant for morning fog and the sound of running water. He is shy at first but melts for a soft voice and a piece of bread. He gets along with other dogs and needs a patient foster or adopter.
Shpresa
Named Hope, she was rescued from a construction site in Dardania just before winter. Shpresa is the most energetic dog in our care, a small wire-haired terrier mix who jumps for joy at every human she meets. She is fully vaccinated and ready for a family that loves walks and play.
Guri
A stoic protector of the Rugova valley trailhead, Guri has watched over hikers and shepherds for years. He is a senior shepherd with aching joints and a heart full of loyalty. Guri is looking for a quiet retirement home where he can watch the world go by from a warm corner.
